Can you say: "Tulikivi?"

Tulikivi is what you call our soapstone fireplace.
We just completed installation about two weeks ago.
We almost feel like we are in Samoa even though it's -10 degrees outside. : )  The radiant heat produced by the stone stays warm all day, even after the fire is out.  We only fire it up two times a day and we are able to heat the house without turning on the furnace...yes, the goal is to cut out the gas bill.  Since gas prices seem like they are going to continue to rise, we decided to  make a little investment and also be self-reliant.  This fireplace will protect us if all gas and electricity were to out in our home.  We can even bake in it. We made homemade bread last week and it turned out perfectly.  Ray is the one that did all the research (for over a year now) on the Tulikivi's.  I was sold on them once we went to someone's home that had one burning and I could feel and see the benefits.  Ray helped our contractor build the unit and it was a thrill for him.  It also helped us save $ since the contractor deducted from our bill what he would have had to pay someone for labor.   Ray will be taking some professional photos for me to post in the future.  I hurried and took these pictures so Mom and Dad could see the pictures while they are in Apia.  The contractor wants Ray to take some photos for his website and hopefully a Tulikivi brochure.  This is "hot stuff!"  Stephen enjoyed doing a little labor of his own.  He has been very good around the fire.  We plan to have many "firesides" so we can share the warmth and light with others.

Love,
Kary

Awesome!! I love wood burning stoves!! We used to heat entirely with one in Idaho years ago!! I have never heard of the Tulikivi's though. Is there a website that we can check out or something?

Sarah,
go to Tulikivi.com. and find out if you have any certified contractors/ masons that install/build these in your area. Ray can guide you better if you want to send an email to our email, he can answer all your questions. He is sold on this product 100% and so am I. Yes, it's a huge investment, but it will pay for itself and more in the years ahead.
thanks for staying in touch Sarah,
love,
Kary
