Freedom 4 miler Race

We celebrated Independence Day in Willow, Alaska.
Ray found a family fun event sponsored by the Willow Running Club.

So, we showed up for the fun run.
The kids ran a 1K race first, then my friend, Crystal and I ran the 4 miler while
Ray watched all the kids (way to go Ray!)

Remember the famous dog musher, Dee Dee Jonroe?  Well, there she is.  She was working the sign in station and she was so positive w/ the kids.  She gave them bubble packs for prizes before the race and the kids felt like winners from the start.  It was terrific!

McKinley getting ready for her run.  She was so excited.

Stephen coming down the stretch to the finish line.  Go Stephen!

McKinley w/ a look of determination.  She is almost there.  Way to go McKinley!
Stephen got a 3rd place ribbon for boys and McKinley got a 2nd place ribbon for girls.
With only 11 children participating, the odds were good.  ; )

Mommy hugging McKinley after finishing her freedom 4 miler in 32:28.  I was so happy to live in the land of the free and the home of the brave that I felt I should run strong to show my thanks.
