Last week, we decided to venture out on a bike ride. We met my Mom and Dad at Bird Point (along Turnagain Arm), and rode our bikes from Bird Point to Girdwood. Round trip rounded out at 13.3 miles. My Mom and Dad drove to the end of the bike trail and took a walk. It was fun to see them out on the trail while we were biking. This is a bike trip I've been wanting to do with our kids for a long time. I love to watch McKinley pedal with Ray. She's loves flying on the downhills with him. Along the bike path, we enjoyed views of the inlet, the mountains, a few trickling waterfalls, and fireweed. It was a joyful journey.
Here we are at the start. Good thing Ray decided to check all our tires before we took off. They were all a little low.
Hooray! We made it to Girdwood.
McKinley is thinking: "I am strong enough to pull Daddy on the way back." Hang on!!!!
Stephen thinks: "Oh yeah, I got this…my feet can almost reach the pedals."
Crossing the bridge.
Stephen scored on this bike in early May. Our city participates in a 'clean up' day. If you brought in 5 bags of garbage to the community clean up location, they would give you 5 tickets to put in a drawing. Several prizes were given out. Then it came to the grand prize drawing….a new kids bike from a 'real' bike shop. The announcer called out: "Stephen Hafen!" We were amazed! It was awesome to win something; especially something we wanted & needed. Stephen was all smiles. Ray got to take Stephen in to get fitted for it. It was such a sweet gift since we love biking as a family and Stephen's old bike was a second hand bike and brakes were wearing out. We sure were reminded that when you do good, good will come to you.
Look at the joy on McKinley's face….love it!
Mother & son enjoying the fun
Taking a break off the bike path to take in more of the view.
Stephen really loves his new bike!

Sure love the fireweed. Sure love fun with family.
It was a good time to ride & roll.
